Deposits and Withdrawals: Methods, Limits and Fees

One wallet covers everything on SportyBet. Sports, casino, jackpot and virtuals all draw on the same balance, so there’s no moving money between sections.

The headline fact: SportyBet pays the transfer fees itself. Deposits and withdrawals are both free, with a GHS 1 minimum on either side.

Cards work for topping up but not for cashing out, and bank transfers work the other way round. That’s normal for Ghana, though it surprises players who assume money leaves the way it came in.

How to Deposit

Online deposit

  1. Step 1.

Go to My Account ➡️ Deposits

    Step 1.
  2. Step 2.

Choose the Deposit method: Mobile Money, Paybill or Card. Enter the amount and tap Top Up Now

    Step 2.
  3. Step 3.

If you have chosen mobile money, a confirmation request will be sent to your phone.

    Step 3.

Two network quirks come straight from SportyBet’s own instructions. Telecel users must generate a Voucher Code first, following the on-screen steps. MTN users go through an extra validation stage before the deposit completes.

Paybill via USSD

For anyone with no data, or no patience for the app:

Dial *711*222#, enter the amount, follow the prompts on your phone.

It works across all networks and needs no internet connection at all. On a phone that’s out of bundle, this is the only way to fund an account, and it’s the reason plenty of Ghanaian players stay with SportyBet over international brands that never built the channel.

Bank card

Go to Me → Deposit → Card. Enter the card number, expiry and the three-digit CVV from the back, then the amount, then Top Up Now. Choose whether the authorisation code arrives by email or SMS, enter it, and the deposit lands.

The single most important rule on this page: you can only top up from the mobile number registered to your account.

Deposit from a different number and the money will not reach your balance. The system creates a brand new account on that number and sends its password there by SMS. Recovering funds from that situation means contacting support, and SportyBet’s terms state plainly that it accepts no responsibility for money sent using incorrect details.

Adding a second deposit number

This is possible, but gated. Your main account has to be KYC verified using a Ghana Card or Voter’s ID first.

Tap your balance in the top-right, choose Deposit → Mobile money, click Switch beside the existing number, then Add a New Number. An OTP goes to your old number for confirmation.

How to Withdraw

Four steps, and the third one matters most:

  1. Go to Me → Withdraw
  2. Select the operator you want the money sent to
  3. Check the destination details carefully before confirming
  4. Tap Withdraw

Payouts normally reach your mobile money wallet immediately. Anything under GHS 7,500 is processed instantly. Larger requests can show as Pending, which means a manual review rather than a problem, and those are verified within three working days.

If you enter your own account details incorrectly, the funds are not recoverable through SportyBet. Read the confirmation screen properly.

A GHS 1 floor is low enough that a single matchday stake covers it. Worth knowing: your mobile money provider may still apply its own wallet charges independently of SportyBet, which controls only its own side of the transfer.

Tax on Winnings

Ghana’s 10% withholding tax on betting winnings was abolished by Parliament in March 2025, two years after it was introduced. No deduction is taken at withdrawal, so the amount you request is the amount that arrives.

One thing to be aware of: SportyBet’s help section still carries a Withholding Tax page explaining the old calculation, where gross winnings were taken as the withdrawal amount minus deposits made in the previous 30 days. That page has simply not been updated.

If you ever see a gap between what you requested and what landed, check Me → Transactions with a date filter and raise it with support rather than assuming tax.

When Something Goes Wrong

The MTN approval prompt never appeared. Dial *170#, choose option 6 (My Wallet), then option 3 (My Approvals). Enter your PIN to see pending approvals and confirm the payment by hand.

Money left the wallet but the balance is unchanged. Open Me → Transactions, filter by category and date range, and check whether the deposit is logged. If nothing shows, contact support with the transaction reference.

A withdrawal is stuck on Pending. Above GHS 7,500 this is routine manual verification. Allow three working days before chasing it.

The account has been frozen. SportyBet’s rules name three specific triggers: depositing and withdrawing with no betting activity in the transaction log, withdrawing to a large number of different people’s accounts, and submitting too many withdrawal requests in a single day.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Are there any fees on deposits or withdrawals?

None from SportyBet. It covers the charges on both sides, though your mobile money provider’s own wallet fees are separate.

How long does a withdrawal take?

Instantly for amounts under GHS 7,500. Larger sums may go to manual review and clear within three working days.

Can I deposit from someone else’s MoMo number?

No. A deposit from an unregistered number creates a separate account on that number instead of crediting yours.

Can I withdraw to a wallet I didn’t deposit from?

You can select any supported operator at withdrawal, but adding a new number to the account requires KYC verification with a Ghana Card or Voter’s ID first.
